While working at the press office of the Embassy of Spain, Alfonso coordinated with the NBA International Communications department a series of press conferences -for the Spanish media correspondents- with Spanish player Pau Gasol (Memphis Grizzlies) during his first three seasons in the league, 2001-04. The pressers took place at the Verizon Center in Washington DC.

He also assisted the NBA International Communications department in reaching out to Spanish media correspondents and coordinating the introductory press conference of Pau Gasol when he became a new player for the Los Angeles Lakers. The presser took place prior to the Wizards-Lakers game at the Verizon Center in February 2008.
